About Our Puppy Adoption Process

We view our puppies as extensions of our family. The adoption process is an opportunity to blend our family and yours, and we keep in touch with many of our puppies’ families over the years.

We include a care package with every puppy to help you get started on the right paw. We feel responsible for our puppies and want them to have loving homes their entire lives.

Please Note: We allow families to choose their puppy based on the order of deposits received on our Waiting List. All deposits are non-refundable unless we do not have a puppy for you. Please contact Marta with any questions!

You get what you pay for, Summer’s is not cheap, one of the more expensive breeders we saw actually. But what you get is what people say is impossible: a great puppy. Ours is 4.5 months now, and we could not have asked for a better dog. She has zero anxiety, great temperament, was potty trained almost immediately, and loves everyone and every dog. I think so much of the anxiety you hear with dogs is probably due to inbreeding, whereas our angel has never chewed anything she wasn’t supposed to, doesn’t destroy, sits calmly even if we leave her in the car for a few minutes. She’s been a dream, and I think it’s 100% due to how Summer’s does business. We love our golden girl and would recommend Summer’s to anyone considering a Golden Retriever.

We got our sweet Nala Belle from Summer's Goldens back in early winter of 2018. We just celebrated her 7th birthday in October of this year, 2025! She is the light of my life!

From e-mailing Marta when I was searching for a reputable golden retriever breeder, to receiving photos when her litter was born and then visiting to pick out my puppy and then take her home...the entire process was seamless and enjoyable! My husband and I drove over 5 hours twice (once for the 5 week visit and then to pick her up) because Summer's Goldens felt the most honest and comfortable.

Nala was already so well adjusted and socialized when we brought her home. I did a fair amount of training with her as a puppy, but I felt like she already knew a few things when we brought her home and she caught on so quickly.

She has been the best dog for my husband and I! Nala is such a sweet girl, has a spunky personality and is such a healthy dog! I attribute those things to good long lines of health in the dogs that Marta breeds and the loving environment she provides for the puppies for the 8 weeks she raises them before they go home.

We will most definitely be visiting again once we decide it's time for a 2nd dog. I can not recommend Summer's Goldens enough!!!!

Summer's Goldens is a fantastic breeder! We have had very pleasant experiance across the board. Owners are very nice, updating regularly about the puppies and sending pictures. Dogs themselves are absolutely gorgeous, kept well and very happy. A package to go home with was a nice touch! Highly recommend!

We cold not be happier with the experience we had adopting 2 puppies through Marta at Sumer's Goldens. The process was easy to follow and Marta was very informative throughout with constant communications. The puppies are healthy and well socialized and are an absolute joy to be around. I don’t think I could’ve went with a better golden retriever breeder than Summer’s Goldens. From excellent communication to openness for questions and in-person visits, Marta was a pleasure to work with. She was very caring and knowledgable about her puppies and her observations on her puppies’ temperaments were spot on. Not to mention the health and genetic clearance and extensive early socialization. A bit on the pricier side but worth it imo, 10/10 would recommend!

A wonderful experience is provided by Summer’s Goldens. This is our second golden retriever with Summer’s Golden and as expected the information during the process, at pickup and after pickup provides a warm and personal touch. The mother and father dogs and puppies are treated very well.

It was a great experience adopting a golden retriever puppy from Summer’s Goldens! Marta answered all of our questions along the way and is very knowledgeable of the breed and their specific dogs. It took us a while to find the exact time that worked for our family to bring a puppy home and I never felt pressured to adopt when we weren’t ready. I appreciated her patience through the whole process!

Birdie, formerly Tootsie, has been a great addition to our family. She was very clearly well socialized. The entire process from reaching out to Marta expressing interest to picking up Birdie was so seamless. I would recommend others to look here if they’re also interested in adopting a golden retriever puppy!

We could not be happier with our experience with Summer’s Goldens. From the very first communication, Marta was personable and very forthcoming with all of the information that we needed to know. This was our first family dog and so we had a lot of questions to ensure we were making the right choice for our young family, and Marta happily answered all of our questions. The pick up process was very smooth and organized, and the facility where they keep the puppies is very clean. All of their adult dogs and puppies are gorgeous! You can tell that they take very good care of them. We would highly recommend Summer’s Goldens to anyone looking to add a loving puppy to their family.

Therefore, we follow the Golden Retriever Club of America and the American Kennel Club’s recommendations for health-testing our adult dogs’ hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. Not only are our adult dogs examined in these four key areas, but they are also genetically tested through Embark, one of the most reputable and thorough genetic companies.

We take pride in raising our puppies to be happy, healthy, and ready for their adopted homes. We provide comprehensive socialization for our puppies to build a strong foundation for healthy, well-adjusted adult dogs. We want families to adopt life-long companions, not just dogs. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA), the American Kennel Club (AKC), and the Indiana Council for Animal Welfare (ICAW). We are also licensed through the Indiana Board of Animal Health (BOAH) and the USDA.
